Over the last few years there has been a move from traditional Version Control Systems (VCS) to Distributed Version Control Systems (DVCS). One of the currently popular DVCSs today is git. It is best known as the DVCS used for the Linux kernel and has gained popularity due to the wildly successful GitHub site. Erik will explain how DVCSs improve upon the ideas of VCSs and explain many of the advanced tools and features specific to git.
About Erik Jacobsen:

This is just a little announcement that we will be trying a new location for the January meeting. This month Announce Media will be hosting us at their location and if we both like the setup we may stick around.
