October Meeting
By micheleberg | October 18, 2007
We had a great meeting last night with lots of folks in attendance. Nicole and Tino were in town from Washington D.C. and joined us.
There was lively discussion all evening, on topics like Google Earth, modules for translating high-ASCII into UTF8 and for parsing XML documents, where our next meeting will be, and a potential bid for YAPC::NA 2009, or perhaps a St. Louis Perl Workshop.
Regarding our next meeting, we’ve decided to give the WashU classroom a try, as it has a projector, then move to The Grind afterward. Neither of these places will have food available, so be sure to eat dinner before you come. We also noted that the meeting in November will be the night before Thanksgiving. Some were in favor of still having it that night (as we won’t have to get up for work the next morning) but Ben Oberkfell is going to set up a wiki-based poll to see if there’s more interest in moving it to the previous Wednesday.
As promised, I will be giving a presentation on Win32::OLE and Active Directory next month. The presentation will be at 6:30 in the Wash U classroom (directions will be posted later), and the Q&A will be over beer and coffee at The Grind afterward, probably around 7:15.
