September Meeting
By micheleberg | October 12, 2007
This meeting was more sparsely attended than our usual, but it turned out to be a good thing, as we only had part of our usual space. We shared with a group preparing for competition in the World Poker Championship. For those of you who missed this meeting, you really missed out. Excellent Perl content, and we were delightfully attended to by the poker waitress, wearing a small red sequined dress and librarian glasses. She was obviously having fun playing up the Vegas atmosphere, so who were we to complain?
However charming the company, we had some serious discussions around changing our meeting location. We’d like to find a place more conducive to short presentations, to encourage even more content in our meetings.
Someone suggested that we might meet at Wash U in one of their rooms, and after the presentation portion, adjourn to a nearby cafe/bar for the beer portion of the evening.
If anyone has a topic they’d like to present upon, please put it together and bring it to an upcoming meeting. You don’t need to write new code for this, it could be on a topic as simple as what your favorite new module off CPAN is, and what you use it for.
We had some discussion around possibly putting in a bid to host next summer’s YAPC, as well. If anyone is interested in helping out, let’s get some ideas tossed out on the list and see if we can make this happen.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the October meeting!
